I was invited to join Facebook by a dear friend of mine, I think about a month ago. Initially, I thought that Facebook is just another social platform for the online friends to register. But, the more I log on to Facebook, the more hooked up I am. And true enough, I'm spending quite a considerable number of hours on Facebook, everyday, post office hours, of course ;). So, say you want to add me, feel free to do so (search for Nina Kasim with the picture of cute tiger on the profile, you can't go wrong!)

New House n New Course
I'm moving into new house soon (early December). So, now it's time to get busy with the packings and cleaning. Plus, I have to teach new course codes for next semester. In the process of preparing teaching materials for the students.
Black Tuesday
Tuesday - 19th November 2007
I went off to work rather early today because my university is having one of the convocation sessions today. So, I figured, I can leave early to reach there around 7.15 and get my self a strategic car park. I even had the time to fix myself a simple breakfast for the day.
Somehow, it was fated by Allah, i met with an accident along the LDP on the way to Shah Alam. Luckily, I didn't knock the car right in front of me but unfortunate for my MyVi, that it was knocked by someone else. I was alright though I experienced double shockings - first when I urgently braked my car and another was when the back car knocked mine. Nothing major though but the lady who knocked me is willing to cover the expenses for my damage. I sent the car to the workshop she recommended and got back the car on Wednesday (20th November 2007).

I'm Back from Silence
It's been a long.. long time since I last wrote in here. The last post was rather a boring one. I know.. but that does not mean that I'm a boring person too. Rather, I was just bored and got nothing to do.
Now, I'm back with my newly reformatted and repaired notebook. I've had much troubles with it that I sent it for a repair last week. I got it back on Tuesday evening.
I will try to post as much writings as possible this time but should I feel restrained from doing so, then I might not. Hehehehe.... Adios amigos

Been busy for a little while
I've been busy this few months. Actually, for 3 whole months, I had not logged on to my Blog so as to update it. Too many things have to be settled and still... there are a few which are still on the deadlines.
Nevertheless, I have never lost my interest in writing. I promise myself that I would never stop writing because I love doing so. It's just that with too many things to be taken care of within too limited amount of time, I simply can't afford to write anything. However, I'll try from today onwards.
Till then, tarra!!

New Blog

Dear Blog,
I have decided to register this new blog for my academic works. The main contents would be entries on accounting and financial management, which are my main interests. These entries, would not only be useful for my students but also for my own digital collections.
My aim is to update the blog on daily basis though I have to admit that there are obvious obstacles for me to do so continuously. I'll try.
So, to my fellow readers, update your bookmarks and leave comments if you want to. Adios.

From Private to Public.. and now Private again...
About a month ago, we were acknowledged with the privatisation of the giant telecommunication company, MAXIS by decision of Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan of the shares not currently held by him. The privatisation exercise is expected to worth close to RM 39.47 billion (USD 11.54 billion) and it could be Malaysia's biggest corporate deal.
Binariang GSM, an investment holding firm and special purpose vehicle for Ananda's Usaha Tegas and affiliates, said through CIMB Investment bank it would offer RM 15.60 for the outstanding 2.53 billion shares in the company that Ananda does not already own.
Yesterday, June 21st 2007, AMMB Holdings Bhd's proposal to take AmInvestment Group Bhd (AIGB) private at RM3.70 per AIGB share via a one-for-eight rights issue at RM3.40 and borrowings of RM1.42 billion has been welcomed by Aseambankers.
It said the deal was good for both parties as AIGB would be offered a higher valuation, while for AMMB, the privatisation would give it a stronger earnings base. The privatisation would enable AMMB's shareholders to ride on a stronger earnings base as leakages to minorities at the AIGB level would be plugged.
Aseambankers also said the privatisation of AIGB would facilitate the AMMB groups' migration to a universal banking platform by leveraging on common infrastructure between AIGB and Ambank, the commercial banking arm of the AMMB group. Aseambankers believes the entire exercise is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2008.
The question is, how would these privatisation exercises have an impact on the total market capitalisation of our share market? With these two big companies withdrawing their presence in the local bourse, would it be possible for Malaysian Capital Market to continue trade actively?
What could be the reasons for these privatisations? Are the companies having too much money but little attractive projects so that this is the only way to provide return to the existing shareholders? Or, is it not that the parent company/major shareholder trying to reap all the profits while the prospect of the company is seen to be profitable in the near future? Are there any indicators that could explain this development?
Perhaps, future research should be directed towards this scenario by looking at possible reasons and explanations of the current trend.
